From Terry McColl, Director of the New Milford Public Library and BCCLS:
Have a Valentine "Blind Date" with a book at New Milford Library
Want a fun way to read something new? Have a "blind date" with a book from New Milford Public Library. From today Friday, February 12th until Sunday, February 14th, Valentine's Day, come in to the Library and pick out a wrapped book. You won't know what it is until you get home!
Books have been pulled from all parts of the collection: picture books and chapter books for younger readers; novels for teens; fiction, mysteries, non-fiction, and even a couple of audio books. Each one has been wrapped for its special blind date with you.
This is a great way to try reading something you might not normally pick for yourself. Maybe you'll discover a new author. Maybe you'll learn about a person or place you didn't know before. Maybe you'll read about a subject you never thought to read about. And, maybe, you'll just enjoy the company of a good book. This could lead to a new hobby, give you an idea for a place to visit, or lead you to other books.
If you don't like the book, no problem, just stop reading and return it to the Library. You haven't spent anything and the book's feelings won't be hurt!
