Transportation: River Road Closure on 11/05
For a police exercise in New Milford, River Road between Madison Avenue and New Milford Avenue will be closed from 6:30 AM to 4:00 PM. According to Chief Chief Frank Papapietro, "New Milford Getty and Madison Plaza will be accessible and all accommodations will be made to ease any inconvenience to the affected residents including suspension of overnight parking on the night before."
There will be simulated, but no actual gunfire during the exercise.

Transportation: New Bridge Road Temporary Closing Beginning October 15
From Bergenfield Boro Hall:
The Bergenfield Police Department Traffic Bureau would like to advise motorists that on or about October 15, 2009 the New Bridge Road Bridge, which is located between Windsor Road and Woodbine Street, will be closed for approximately four months to vehicular traffic. A foot bridge will be erected to allow for pedestrian traffic. Lieutenant Madalone will be working closely with the construction company to open the roadway to vehicular traffic as quickly as possible.

Transportation: Bicycle Safety, Everybody's Concern
Bicycles are a fact of life. And, with new energy legislation coming, one
way or the other, expect more and more people to start riding. It's certainly
healthy; this reporter has been riding as a form of transportation for, well,
let's just call it "decades" and leave it up to the reader to decide
how many. In discussions with cycling police officers, both in the area and in
New York City, and also with representatives of bicycle advocacy groups, it's a
good time to review a few simple ways to reduce the chances that a bicycle ride
won't end in the hospital and/or courtroom. And please note; an accident in a
parking lot the other day shows that cars need to be just as mindful about
bicycles as bicycles need to be of cars.

Transportation: Temporary Road Closings New Milford & Oradell
New Milford Avenue at Kinderkamack road in Oradell and Main Street in New Milford will be closed May 27 until June 2 or June 3 while New Jersey Transit makes improvements to the railroad crossing at the border of the two boroughs. Also, there will be temporary changes to the Pascack Valley Line. See Bergen Live News for more details.
